Lessons can be tailored to your learning style and your existing skill level in a way that will keep you reaching for the guitar.
Below you can find a few examples of what you can learn at Winchester School of Rock, but these lessons aren't etched in stone, they're all customised to your personal way of learning.
Courses
Beginner fundamentals
Let's try to make those necessary boring bits a bit less boring
First time you've ever picked up a guitar? No problem, here we can go over the basics before we start playing, learn how to hold the guitar that's comfortable for you, learn the different bits and pieces on the guitar and what they do. Learn the anatomy of the fretboard and how it works with a bit of basic theory thrown in just to get you started...you'll thank yourself later

Rhythm section
Rhythm is a dancer
Now you've mastered a few of those chords, we begin to really start playing, you'll learn how to transition from one chord to the next with the smoothness of butter! Learn to play to a beat, learn to play along with a lead guitar, and if you've got the vocals, test yourself and see if you can sing along to your own playing

Scales and lead
Soon you'll be setting the fretboard on fire with blazing fast riffs
Nope...put the bathroom scales down, now we get to learn how a lead guitarist does his or her thing. Here we will learn the parts that go along with the rhythm playing. We will learn various scales in various context. Once you get these down you will be able to let your creative side go into its own. You'll find out that lead playing isn't just what you get taught, but what you can bring to the game
Electric guitar beginner
Electric dreams
So you know some chords, some scales and how to put them together. Maybe it's time now to pick up a noise machine and make it sing. Here we'll go over the basics of what an electric guitar is made of and how to set it up to an amp. You'll discover a whole new world of tones and sound. If you're still a beginner and haven't learnt your basics on the acoustic...not a problem, we can go over all the basics on the electric guitar

Wired for sound
You're becoming a rock god
So now you've got the basics well and truly down we will learn some more advanced techniques that you can pull off on an electric guitar. Learn how to use a whammy bar and execute dive bombs, pinch harmonics, natural harmonics, and if you're feeling brave maybe some two handed tapping. Also explore how to get the best sound out of your amplifier and a look at how to use integrated or external effects pedals
Intermediate playing
Something to be proud of
Here you're going to learn to play the guitar in real-time. With the skills you've learnt, you will learn to play guitar with backing tracks in time to the real thing, finish a song on a loud power chord and smash the guitar into a million pieces on the floor...maybe not. But I will help you to to the point where you can proudly say you can now play the guitar and be proud of what you've accomplished. Add your personal touches with some pinch harmonics or push the boundaries of that blues scale you love to mess around with. Now you will be able to get creative and maybe look at creating your own music

I teach within the extensive Winchester area and can and will travel if you wish to book a lesson in your own home, alternatively I am happy to conduct lessons from my home. Adult supervisors welcome to come along. If you have any other queries I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. And I look forward to hearing from you
